Q2. My machine freezes when connecting to broadband Internet.
A. If you have an USB modem and the machine is freezing or cutting out whilst being on the Internet. It may be beneficial to purchase a USB powered hub. This will allow the modem to have its own power supply. Thus not draining the power supply from the PC.
Q3. Why do I keep getting popup messages?
A. This can be due to Spyware or viruses that have affected your computer. These can be removed with Antivirus and Anti-spyware software. However it will be advantageous to reload your PC first (see question 1 on how to do this) then install your Internet security software before connecting to the Internet. Once you have installed this you should run updates regularly.

Q4. I am getting no sound on my PC, what checks can I do?
A.
a. The most likely reason for this is that the mute button is switched on. To check this, right click on your speaker icon near your clock. Then left click on "Open volume controls" to check for muted icons.
b. Another thing to check is that you have switched your speakers on and that the volume is up. Make sure that the adaptor is plugged into the mains and the speakers.
c. If you are still getting no sound then unplug your speakers from the back of the PC and plug them into a headphone socket such as a personal stereo, TV, or I-pod.
